Dear citizens,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Council declared a state of emergency<\/strong> at 6 p.m.<\/strong> to quickly mobilize resources and limit the impacts<\/strong> of the spring freshet. Sand dikes<\/strong> have been erected (rue du Bord-de-l’Eau and on the earth bridge, rue Baume) to prevent an overflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Red Bridge is closed<\/strong> until further notice. The White Bridge<\/strong> remains under surveillance and restrictions may apply if the level rises. In the event of a closure, the Terry Fox Bridge<\/strong> will be the alternative. Coordination is in place with Mansfield to always maintain emergency services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the most recent data, the Ottawa River<\/strong> could reach levels causing average flooding<\/strong>. The level is at 108.52 m<\/strong> and could stabilize around 108.7 m<\/strong> (estimate subject to variation). The flow of the Coulonge River<\/strong> reached 700 m\u00b3\/s<\/strong>(nearly 10\u00d7 the average flow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colder temperatures until Wednesday are expected to slow the melt<\/strong>. No rain is forecast<\/strong> this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We urge the public to exercise caution<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Remove objects that can be carried away by the water from the banks<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Preparing for a possible worsening of the situation<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Closely supervise\u00a0children<\/strong>\u00a0near waterways and flooded areas<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    We also ask for your cooperation in reducing the consumption of drinking water until the end of the flood, to keep the water treatment plant in good working order.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Free sand<\/strong> (arena yard) to fill bags. To obtain bags: 819-664-0301<\/strong>. Filling remains the responsibility of the citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Avoid restricted traffic areas and report any flood-related issues to 819-683-2259<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
