The Charter of the French language and its regulations govern the consultation of English-language content.

Taxes

Annual property taxes are mailed at the end of February to homeowners on the assessment roll.
If total municipal taxes are $300 or more, the account can be paid in three equal instalments.

The payment dates for the accounts are:  

  • 1ᵉʳ instalment – 1ᵉʳ April
  • 2ᵉ instalment – 1ᵉʳ July
  • 3ᵉ instalment – 1ᵉʳ September

 

Any payments made after the deadlines will be subject to a daily fee calculated at an annual rate of 9%.
In addition to the annual property tax, you may receive one or more supplementary accounts during the year.
These accounts are used to adjust the value of your property following renovation work, for example, or any other event affecting the value of your property. Each complementary account has its own due date.
In the event of non-payment of the account(s) when due, different notices are sent.

There are several ways to pay your property tax:

  • Online payment
  • Payment by VISA
  • Payment at the municipal office
  • Payment by mail

Your payment is credited to your account on the day it is received at our offices. Please allow a minimum of two days (48 hours), excluding Saturdays and Sundays, for your payment to reach us, regardless of the payment method you use. You cannot pay by credit card.

Internet payment

The following financial institutions accept Internet payment of taxes for the Municipality of the Village of Fort-Coulonge:

To make your payment, enter the 10-digit matricule number that appears on the account. Please also select “Fort-Coulonge” from the list of suppliers.

Payment at the municipal office

You can pay by cheque, cash or debit card at the municipal office located at 134, rue Principale.

Payment by mail

If you are sending your payment by mail, please enclose the detachable payment coupon with your cheque or money order payable to Municipalité du village de Fort-Coulonge, at the following address:

You can also enclose with your first instalment, two other cheques for the amount of the second and third installment, bearing the date on which these installments are due. You may divide the amount due into twelve installments.
All cheques must be made out on a paper medium provided by a Canadian or foreign financial institution, or obtained from a company specializing in cheque writing. In addition, it must be drawn on an account at a branch operating in Canada.
